A SPORTWEAR COMPANY has apologised for a sexist washing instruction included on the inside of some of its clothing items.
A Twitter user spotted the grim instruction inside an item made by Salvo, a clothing manufacturer based in Indonesia, and drew attention to it on social media.
As you can see, the label instructs the owner to give the jersey to “your woman” as it is “her job”.
Naturally enough, it didn’t go down well on Twitter and the company were flooded with tweets from people.
Today, the company apologised in a series of tweet and said that the label wasn’t meant to “denigrate” women. Instead, the company stated that the label was meant to reflect the fact that women are simply better at washing clothes than men.
Oh, so it’s a compliment?
They apologised for any offense caused, but attributed the whole thing to misinterpretation.
The half-apology didn’t sit well with many, though.
Your move, Salvo.
